    NOHIL THEATRE COMPLEX IS THE BEST AMONG GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS IN NIGERIA – COMMITTEE ON HEALTH

    Members of the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Health has rated National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos Theatre Complex as the best among Federal Government Hospitals in Nigeria.

    The Committee paid a visit to the Hospital on Monday, 12th October, 2020 in furtherance of their oversight function.

    The Committee visited the Theatre Suites at the Modular Theatre Complex and discovered that the theater suites are well equipped with modern instruments in line with international standards.

    The Chairman of the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Health, Honourable Pascal Obi stated that the Committee was charged constitutionally with the responsibility of exercising oversight function over all the Hospitals in Nigeria and commended the Management for her laudable projects.

    Addressing the Committee, the Medical Director, Dr. Mustapha Alimi gave an overview of the Hospital’s activities. He emphasized on the recent achievements especially in clinical areas on the sub-specialties such as introduction of Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy, Oncology/ Microvascular Surgery, Spine Surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedic services. He stated that the Units are manned by seasoned professionals. He added that the Hospital has activated a bone bank where bones generated from arthroplasty patients are stored and re-used as graft for those clients that need them.

    Dr. Alimi disclosed that the Hospital has a robust Burns, Plastic & Reconstructive Services Department that manages acute burn care and plastic reconstruction. He further stated that the Hospital was expanding its scope of services in order to reduce medical tourism and provide qualitative healthcare services to Nigerians and to Sub-Sahara Africa.
